This section is designed to give you all the information on the RockAToons
make up the haMPSHIRE BASED ‘rockatoons’
It all started in the late summer of 2008 when a group of friends, Ken-Steve-Wayne and Andy got together to form a Rock’n’Roll band.
They were looking for a singer and lead guitarist, along came Adie who fitted the bill perfectly.
The band got together for their first rehearsal in December 2008 and started to gig in June 2009.
A year later they met up with foot tapping records and recorded their debut album ‘Introducing the Rock-A-Toons’.This album was a huge success, selling in the UK and Europe.
In February 2012 the Rock-A-Toons welcomed their newest member, Monz on Tenor Sax.
In March 2012 they lost a very good friend and valued band member Andy ‘Cookie’ Rich, a great loss to the band and is sadly missed.
Andy’s great sounding voice can still be heard on a bonus track ‘American Trilogy’ ;
this is on the new Album ‘You Gotta Move’ which also includes the band's own material and is ON SALE NOW !!.

After packing up my side car racing due to injury, I started to play the double bass as a replacement hobby. As I competed at a high level I was constantly travelling all over Europe, it was time to find a new past time that was safer and cheaper !!
It was suggested by friend (Mick from Jive Street) that I learn the bass for a surprise at my father's wedding.
What started off as a bit of fun just jamming in my garage has now turned a corner and has become a huge part of my life, as big as my racing !
I still have my own racing team with my brother taking the hot seat, racing at the British Super Bike events.
My weekends now consist of Racing by day and Gigging by night. What a life !!.
I use a German made full size Bass with the Rockabilly Master Bug and Pre-Amp, I use an HK Audio back line to give the thumping sound that I like.
I am a director of my own building company working all over the country with work ranging from Pub Refurbs, Office Refurbs and house developments.
My interest in music started at an early age, We used to have an organ and I remember making up tunes on it.
My mum bought a guitar for me when I was 12 years old so decided to teach myself how to play.
I’ve been song writing now since the early age of 15.
I like Blues, Gospel, Soul, Country, Rockabilly and of course Rock’n’Roll.
My hobbies include – playing my Guitar, Reading and a good ole country walk !!
My musical influences include, Little Richard, Jackie Wilson, Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent and his Blue Caps, Etta James, John Lee Hooker, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Johnny Burnette, Elvis, The Stray Cats, Alvin Stardust and Marc Bolan.
I started playing drums back in 1984 when my dad played in a Rock’n’Roll band called Street Rods.
It was just after this I purchased my first drum kit. I would play along to records and am completely self-taught.
I started my first band in 1998, mainly doing covers, this band ended in 2005 and I decided to take a 4 year break.
I then met up with an old friend ‘Wayne’ and he was learning the double bass for a surprise gig for his dad, I joined him on drums, it was supposed to be a one off for fun but after the success of the gig we decided to form a band.
Now 4 years down the line I am a key member of the Rock-A-Toons playing at a very high standard at some great venues all over the UK.
My current Kit is a Gretsch 5 piece with Zildjian K Cymbals.
I first started playing Rock’n’Roll in 1974, we formed a band called Restless Rockers.
I remember we had lots of gigs in those days, playing up and down the country, we were even advertised on Radio 1 every Saturday !!
After 5 years I formed a new band called the Tennessee Shakers, we kept our gigs local.
Then in 1984 I joined a group called the Street Rods and had 5 happy years with them, we even had a spot on TV’s coast to coast.
In 1989 I had a 2 year break but couldn’t stay away, I then formed another band with Andy ‘Cookie’ Rich called the Firestorms, and this band had a 10 year innings and disbanded in 2001.
Unfortunately Andy passed away in 2012.
In 2009 my son Wayne started to learn the double bass, the rest is history and Rock-A-Toons was born.
I started playing the flute and Sax at school and joined the Royal Marines Band service in 1980 at the age of 16.
During my 22 year service I travelled extensively around the world and performed all styles of music.
One of my career highlights was serving 4 years on the Royal Yacht Britannia.
On leaving the marines in 2003 I started to teach the flute, sax and clarinet in schools to students of all ages.
I have continued to perform regularly playing in pit orchestras for shows, concerts, function bands, swing bands and big bands.
Having joined the Rock-A-Toons in March 2012 I am now playing a lot of music I enjoyed listening to in my younger days.
My hobbies include golf, road cycling and supporting Portsmouth FC.
